Dereck Skeete, PhD
Educator and Activist

An avid educator and mentor with over 22 years in higher education, Dereck began his undergraduate studies at Medgar Evers College, and later went on to the CUNY BA/BS program where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Physics.

Currently, as a Professor of Environmental Science and Chemistry at Medgar Evers for 23 years, and an adjunct Professor at Lehman College and Bronx Community College for 3 years, Dr. Skeete has an extensive background in Higher Education, guidance and mentoring, especially to the underserved. Throughout his academic career, Dereck has worked incessantly helping others. He volunteers his time to mentor inner city high school students in a High Performance Learning Math and Science program that he co-founded, in addition to mentoring over 125 College students. Dr. Dereck Skeete is an advocate for Self-actualization of all students; however, he has a special interest in helping to develop more minority students to self-identify in lieu of maximizing on their potential. In addition, Dereck is also heavily involved in microscale air quality study abroad research projects in India and Australia, and a K-12 Lead Science Educational Consultant. Dereck has a Masters Degree in Environmental Pollution Control, and a Doctorate In Environmental Science.
